Lincolnshire Gypsy Liaison Group was formed in 2005, following requests for assistance and support both from the Travelling community and from service providers within the county. Its management team is made up of community members. We now have an every increasing membership from across the region.
This project brief was to gauge the level of support Gypsies and Travellers would have to be included in the housing charter. We wanted to access if their
LGLG is committed to improving the accommodation issues which the community face. There is a need for more private sites, more local authority sites, and more support for families who as yet are still homeless through lack of any type of site.
LGLG were successfully awarded a grant from the Community Foundation to run a series of health and well being workshops. These are still ongoing and have proved very popular.
This is being held near Coventry this year and is being organised by members of the Federation of Gypsy Liaison Groups in conjunction with Warwickshire police.
Members of LGLG studied at Derbyshire University and have successfully now gained accreditation as Diversity Trainers.
This work was done in conjunction with Andrew Ryder and the Irish Traveller Movement. We were exploring issues of how employment had changed for the community and what help and support they would most need to enable them to be self employed and independent.

This project was carried out in conjunction with other groups in the East Midlands and centred round working with the community to look at the gaps in provision for those with disabilities. The final report which is awaiting release
This can range from support for unsited encampments, issues of literacy, mental health support, planning support, accessing medical services, site improvement and debt management etc etc. It is ongoing and completely confidential.
We worked in conjunction with HMP North Sea Camp and set up a pilot project with prisoners and prison staff to do staff training and ongoing prison support for inmates. This was followed by further funding to continue that work.
